DescriptionThis Cafaggiolo workshop was located in a section of the Medici villa at Cafaggiolo, just north of Florence. Under Medici patronage, the workshop produced some of the most elegant wares of the early sixteenth-century, many of which reveal the impact of imported luxury goods, including Islamic art objects and Chinese porcelain. This remarkable piece unites these influences. The central image of dogs chasing game animals in a landscape may have been inspired by a Persian miniature painting.
